Water Filter Comparison

On this page I’ve pull together a ton of research on many different water filtration options in order to compare them easily with the Multipure Aquaperform system – I spent the time researching so you don’t have to!

For a quick look at the exact contaminants removed by each of the systems above, please visit the manufacturer’s website via the link below:

Ion Faucet is a faucet company that also sells 3rd party filters. They do not manufacturer or test their filters, and each installation uses a combination of several different filters made of different materials. Each different filter configuration is intended to remove different contaminants.
IonFaucet’s filters are not NSF certified, and no contaminant reduction list is available.

The Pro’s and Con’s of Different Filtration Types

When it comes to choosing the best water filter for your needs, take a look at this comparison list provided by waterfiltercomparisons.com

(Note – this site is powered by Aquasana, and I am not affiliated with them or their website – whether their ratings are entirely accurate, I’m not sure – however their product specifications seem to be accurate, so I’ve included the information they provided below for your convenience.)

The Multipure Difference:

Multipure’s AquaPerform is not listed on Aquasana’s comparison site as it far exceeds even Aquasana’s own products. I have included the details for the Aquaperform below, and given the performance specs and other details, I will let you compare and contrast, and determine your own “rank” for Multipure’s AquaPerform system.

A note about sub-par or “knock-off” filters from the President of Multipure….

Pitcher Water Filters

Although pitcher-type water filters provide an economical filtration option, they are not ideal. With low filter capacity issues, you’ll need to change these filters very often to maintain proper filtration. It is very common for these pitcher-type water filters to become a breeding ground for chlorine-resistant bacteria and parasites like Cryptosporidium, Giardia, and Legionella.

But for the sake of comparison, let’s go ahead and take a look at the ratings given by Aquasana over at waterfiltercomparison.com

Reverse Osmosis Water Filters

Reverse Osmosis systems filter out not only the contaminants, but also the good beneficial organic compounds in the water, leaving you with water that has been stripped completely, and often referred to as “dead water”.

Often times, this filtered water then undergoes a process of “remineralization” where inorganic “ingredients” are added back into the water to improve the taste. If your water has ingredients, it is not natural.

In addition, reverse osmosis systems generate a large amount of waste water, and some systems require up to 20 gallons of water just to produce 1 single gallon of “purified” water.

The far reaching issues with our reliance on the reverse osmosis process in the bottled water industry is finally starting to come into the light – if you’d like to learn more about this, please send me a message, or use the chat feature on this page.

Due to the disruptive qualities of Reverse Osmosis filtration systems, I have chosen not to include information about any specific RO systems here.
